Spring Nail art - Dotted Daisy Flowers

Image
The season of soft pastels and all things flowery is here! I love seeing floral manis all around, but I can't do one to save my life. I've grown to love those soft daisy manis that pretty much everyone with an ounce of talent is doing, so here's my recreation of them.  I couldn't get those petite petals right, so I improvised (read cheated) and made them dotted! And of course I needed an holo accent :) Purple base is Purple Nail Swag by Stay Quirky with yellow flowers dotted by a lovely yellow called Passion Fruit also by Stay Quirky. Accent is Bombay Lights by Faces India, topped with Revlon's Holographic Pearls. A closer look! Are you feeling spring vibes yet?

Stamping over textured nail polish!

Image
Ever since I discovered that I actually don't like textured polishes, (which was after buying quite a few of them, mind you) I've been looking for ways to cover them up. And what better way to hide yer ish than stamping pretty things over it? I picked Stay Quirky's My Bae, a gorgeous purple packed with holo madness and Maybelline's Bold Gold as stamping polish. The abstract patterns from OSI plate went so well with the colour scheme! I've always admired the purple-gold combination, and it definitely didn't disappoint me :)  I still suck at placement though, and the ring finger is a clear testament to that! I was aiming for that trippy pattern for all the nails, but sigh. Life's so unfair :( I should probably make decals for these placement sensitive manis!

Valentine's Day Nails with Stay Quirky Nail Polish

Image
Back after so long! One of my new year's resolution was to blog regularly, but like all new years' resolution do, this one too went straight outta window :D Moving past the very, very unoriginal whining, here are my Valentine's Day nails! Ooh yeah, so much PINK. I was initially going to do a holo heart as my accent, but some unmentionable-y horrendous incidents with DIY scotch tape stencils have made sure that your eyes are safe from that disaster. So we have a plain holo accent instead! I've heard a great many things about nail vinyls, but I don't think I'll be able to pull one sticky thing off another wet thing. Guess I'll just have to stick to free handing shapes for now! Holographic pearls needed 3 coats to be this opaque, but dayum that BLING!! The white to pink gradient looked to pretty on it's own, I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures before stamping over it. I think I need to do more pastel gradients! ➺Pink - Pink U...

Review and Swatches - Gilded Rose by Maybelline New York India

Image
Finally some sexeh swatches!! I was DYING to put this beauty on my nails because gosh it looked so pretty in the bottle. This textured rose gold polish is Gilded Rose , from Maybelline India's latest Gold Digger collection. (they couldn't have gone for a more apt name!) It's a textured polish though, so you might need a top coat to smooth out that ish if you are like me. mandatory swatch pose! Just LOOK at that glitter. SO MUCH PERFECTION RIGHT THERE ooh look an artsy macro! Proof that I am a complete fail at 'balancing the bottle on your fingers' pose . Final verdict? I LOVE this. The glitter makes for a interesting addition along with the texture, and the whole effect is quite catchy!

Bundle Monster Shangri-La stamping plate mani!

Image
Am I in the cool club yet?! I finally found an authentic Indian seller for Bundle Monster plates on ebay! I've always adored the Shangri La set, and boy, I wasn't disappointed :) They stamp wonderfully, and the images are crisp and well etched. I don't own any special stamping polish, but my cheap drugstore polish worked flawlessly on these. Yay for saving my money BM! I tried out two polishes, a metallic gold from Maybelline India, and a black creme from a local brand called Juice. Playing it safe with black and gold, I know, I know. Imma definitely try decals with this plate.  Look at that crisp stamping! I like my pointer finger the most, my topcoat smudged the rest of three :( Probably time to bid Revlon's matte top coat adieu.

Review - Maybelline India Gold Digger Collection Nail Polish

Image
This one's for my desi nail addicts! Maybelline launched their Gold Digger collection back in December, but I was too caught up with things to buy these beauties -.- I'm always on the lookout for interesting polishes, which we all know are a thing of rarity in Indian brands. You can always order from foreign brands, but well, shipping costs a fortune :(   Stay Quirky has been a godsend for Indian Lacquer lovers, but a large part of me prefers to physically buy the lacquers from a store. Don't ask me why, I just do! Photos are often tricky, and you never know how the colour would look on your skin when you're buying online. Swatches help a lot, but eh. So you can imagine how glad I was when I spotted these beauties on the shelf! Sadly, I didn't have time to do proper swatches, the pictures are of the manis I did using them. I bought three of them - Gold Me Baby, Gold Gluttony, and Gilded Rose. Tbh, I'm in love with their names, and I'm glad Maybelline is...

Glam watermarble nails for Watermarblepracticewed!

Image
Ain't no damn cold's gonna stop me from my weekly finger painting ritual! This week's theme was Glam/New Years and I went for a subdued glam look. After a month full of Red-Green-Golden-Glitter manis, I was feeling sort of overwhelmed with anything and everything glittery. And lets be honest, removing that glitter is a right pain in the ass. Polishes used are 'Bold Gold' by Maybelline, and the gorgeous rose gold and black are from a local brand - Juice; all topped up with Revlon's Matte Top Coat. I did these while watching criminal minds reruns and can we talk about Shemar Moore? I thought I was totally over my silly little Derek Morgan crush but nOPE. NEGATORY SIIIR. I wish they'd do a spin off with him :)
