Fish Scale sequins from Born Pretty Store!!

Image
Hello people of the internet, today I'm back with another product review 😈😉 My latest review package included some magicool sequins, water decals, and two thermal polishes :) I was most excited about the pot of multichrome sequins because honestly whats better than multichrome sequins? See for yourself. SO. MUCH. SHIFTY. GOODNESS!!! I layered them over a simple black base as an accent nail, and kept the rest of the mani pretty low key with a nude colour.  Look at that shift omg 😻😻😻😻😻 These 25mm sequins are available in small pots of 2g on the BPS website under the name  Fish Scale Nail Sequins 2.5mm Paillette Hexagon Glitter Manicure Decor   for $1.29.  These are number 4 from the total 10 available glitters, I'm pretty sure there's at least one holographic version for all the holosexuals out there. Some of the sequins I received had a minor curve to them, which made sticking them on to the nail quite difficult. But a couple of dented sequ

Two ways to wear a red and black manicure!

Hello loves! I know, I know, I've been a bad mother to my blog. Its a good thing Google doesn't have child services! Anyways, new season dictates I must abandon my pastels and neons, and that's exactly what I did for these two manis. To be completely honest, this was a challenge to me, because as a rule, I avoid mani ideas that have become quite common over the period of time. It doesn't mean I don't love them, it's just that I feel like there's nothing I could add to them apart from following the tutorials to the T. I mean who doesn't love planning manis, right?!   But thats not to say that recreating the look is easy peasy. It's NOT. When you are recreating someone else's work, the pressure's high because it's someone else's work and you can't eff that up! 😓😓😓 First one I did was a classic dark gradient transitioning from Red to Black. When done right, this is literally the chic -est look ever. Keyword, 'ri

Review : Born Pretty Store Geek Pattern Stamping plate!

Image
Look at me, reviewing stuff and silently making my way to the cool kids table! Everybody knows you are cool when you receive goodies to review right? Yep. Thought so. So when Cynthia from BPS contacted me, I was honestly gobsmacked as to why would someone want to give free stuff to a person who has less than a thousand followers on IG. Without dwelling much on the reasoning, I asked for a stamping plate and stamper . The shipping was a surprise, since I had heard so much about BPS packages taking 3-4 weeks to ship. But my geographical proximity to China came in handy, and I received my package on the 9th or 10th day itself. The plate I received An image of the plate designs from BPS website The products I got were exactly as they were described on the BPS site. I had asked for Geek Pattern Stamping plate BP-L022, which is a large rectangular plate measuring 12.5 x 6.5cm. The plate is well etched, and has a sturdy plastic back unlike the smaller plates, which makes me lov

ILNP Ultra Holo : Deja Vu (Swatches and nail art)

Image
SO. MUCH. HOLO!!!! I recently got my hands on a couple of ILNP polishes, including their an Ultra Holo from their Spring 2016 collection , Deja Vu . It's a pretty wisteria hue, with holo flame running through. Right now, just about everybody in nail world is gushing over holos, (all thanks to Cristine of Simply Nailogical ) so I had to get one too! And what does a newly initiated holo addict do when she gets her holo polish? Take tonnes of pictures, of course!  Here's what I did with it ;) I used square vinyls from Angel Nail Studio , and Sweet Apricot from Faces India to layer over it. I decided to matte them, but unfortunately it dimmed the blingy holo. It does look more blue-er in pictures, but in person it has a soft violent hue to it. I'm still not a pro at photographing holos, hence the grainy flame :(  Deja Vu in its color accurate glory! This was the only picture I could manage, which is truest to the actual shade. As you can see, I c

MoYou London Illusion Plate - Pastel Stamping Nail Art

May is turning out to be the month of nail mails! And a month of splurging too, but lets not talk about that. I was part of a group haul Veeral of  Angel Nail Studio  hosted a while back, and some major lemming squashing happened :) I got my first MoYou London plates, and they are soooo good. I'm always looking for stamping polishes in lighter colours, so I snagged a white stamping polish by El Corazon as well.   Obviously, I had to come up with a pretty pastel gradient for the background :) Pardon the wonky placement please, I don't own a clear jelly stamper :(  I love how the warm colors blended together. This is definitely one of my favorite gradients I've done so far. Next step, Diagonal gradients! The image is from MoYou London Illusion plate 05, probably my favorite from this collection. I find it easier to work with such concentric-esq images, they go so well over a gradient and make your mani stand out.  The white polish used for stamping is

Spring Nail art - Dotted Daisy Flowers

Image
The season of soft pastels and all things flowery is here! I love seeing floral manis all around, but I can't do one to save my life. I've grown to love those soft daisy manis that pretty much everyone with an ounce of talent is doing, so here's my recreation of them.  I couldn't get those petite petals right, so I improvised (read cheated) and made them dotted! And of course I needed an holo accent :) Purple base is Purple Nail Swag by Stay Quirky with yellow flowers dotted by a lovely yellow called Passion Fruit also by Stay Quirky. Accent is Bombay Lights by Faces India, topped with Revlon's Holographic Pearls. A closer look! Are you feeling spring vibes yet?

Stamping over textured nail polish!

Image
Ever since I discovered that I actually don't like textured polishes, (which was after buying quite a few of them, mind you) I've been looking for ways to cover them up. And what better way to hide yer ish than stamping pretty things over it? I picked Stay Quirky's My Bae, a gorgeous purple packed with holo madness and Maybelline's Bold Gold as stamping polish. The abstract patterns from OSI plate went so well with the colour scheme! I've always admired the purple-gold combination, and it definitely didn't disappoint me :)  I still suck at placement though, and the ring finger is a clear testament to that! I was aiming for that trippy pattern for all the nails, but sigh. Life's so unfair :( I should probably make decals for these placement sensitive manis!
